Up the Ladder to the Roof

Nothing new here I'm afraid: just a joint effort by myself and [personal profile] zerographic, in answer to a GoS Wishing Tree request from a little while ago, that I thought I would chuck on here for completeness; it might be new for some though.

I was hoping to have a little New Year gift ready, but nothing is going right, so I'm sorry but it seems unlikely. :(

In the meantime, have some old stuff...

Mostly for selfish reasons, I made a few more recolours in addition to those Zero had already done:

{all have white trim}

Please bear in mind that the preview above shows the colour of roof when niol's roof shader mod is used.

The picture below shows a comparison of the same roof with and without the mod:

As this hopefully illustrates, without the mod, it is just not possible to get really light or brightly-coloured roofs (I tried and failed to make it work), thanks to silly Maxis coding. However, niol's mod messes up the look of the Maxis roofs, making them far too light. So, what I have also done is to make replacements for all the Maxis roofs, which should revert their appearance back to the Maxis defaults when niol's mod is installed.

Obviously, I can't also correct all the existing custom roofs out there for the effect of niol's mod, but I have provided a shading overlay that can be used to edit the textures for these, should anyone else wish to do so themselves.

One last thing: these recolours should all be base-game compatible, which means they will not have a custom-content asterisk in the catalog, and you will not be able to delete them in-game.

I am so glad I found you! I have always loved your work at GOS (yada yada yada) One of my "claims to fame" at PlumbBob Keep are patterned European roofs and adding patterns to the "undersides"... so that when you look up.... it isn't a solid mass of nondescript color. I am now merrily off to see what the shader will/won't do for my custom jobs.
Thanks!
