The Flat Earth

OK, herewith my last offering for this month's theme at GoS...

I have a thing about old maps - I think they're beautiful and fascinating (and I figured that I can't be the only one who feels this way?). So, when I recently came across some wonderful textures, I had to put them in my game. The problem was, so few Maxis meshes were the right size or proportions (why so many square pictures, Maxis, and so few rectangular ones?!), and I was too lazy to hunt down exactly the right custom meshes. And, call me crazy, but I actually prefer to use Maxis meshes whenever I can. Hence, this idea - stolen partly from Fantasyrogue and Graverobber - was born.

I ended up with 14 new meshes, which all started life as Maxis meshes and have now been stretched and cajoled into different and more useable, shapes, sizes and proportions, all slaved to Maxis textures. Plus my map recolours.

Of course, if you don't happen to be into old maps, you can just use the new meshes as a Maxis add-on set, and a convenient way of re-framing any existing recolors of the meshes to which they are slaved.

Some of the new meshes are slaved to Maxis pictures from various EPs and SPs, but for those who don't happen to have the packs in question, I have also created base-game versions of the Maxis meshes, so the EPs/SPs aren't actually required (just remember to download the extra base-game-friendly meshes if you need them).

Walking In My Shoes

This is a joint effort by myself and jaccirocker ([personal profile] digitaldollies) for the GoS clutter theme - jacci did all the work on separating and manoeuvering the meshes, and I wrangled them into package files.

May I present, on behalf of us both, Nouk's ankle boots as clutter:

Merry Xmas Everybody

This is nothing new, but just for completeness I thought I'd sling the GoS Secret Santa gifts I made for last year up here, so that I know where to find them and just in case there is anyone who might want them who still doesn't have them.

Firstly, for Almighty Hat, a selection of medieval-themed stuff, including walls and floors, door and ceiling beam recolours, and three new barrel meshes:

WALLS SWATCH // FLOORS SWATCH

And for Mr. Sullivan, Maxis Bon Voyage vintage travel poster recolours, distressed wood floors and a small wall clock:

I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday

In case anyone hasn't yet found it, don't forget to have a look at the GoS Advent Calendar 2010, including my own contribution from Christmas Eve, which includes makeup, AF undies, walls and floors, Maxis and custom furniture recolours, an update of my slaved version of DOT's Satinistics add-on meshes, fences and gates, and neighbourhood deco:

Telegraph Road

I've always loved the meshes from Cooldad/Tigmom's utility pole set, but the default textures have always bugged me; to my mind, they just look way too clean and shiny to be realistic.

So, about six months ago I set out to re-texture all the parts of the set that I use most often. There was just one problem: I soon discovered that nothing in the set - apart from the street signs - was bloomin' well recolourable!

However, I was determined not to be beaten! The end result is that I've completely overhauled the set, making most parts recolourable, slaving textures wherever possible, as well as providing new textures. Shall I stop talking now, and show you some pictures?

On the Beach

A while ago evanesco at GoS requested a TS2 conversion of some rather splendid fences that Cyclonesue had released for TS3. I was very happy to oblige, since I think it a huge shame that Cyclonesue has abandoned TS2, and don't see why only TS3 should have her new pretties. ;)

After several minor hiccups, they are finally done!

Lots more fenceyness this way... )

Teenage Angst

Yet another project that took way longer than it probably should have done! Here we have Fran's teen conversion of Ghanima Atreides's skinny jeans and flats mesh in all of Ghanima's textures, plus ColdFire's Pook'd recolours and a recolour of my own (Pooklet's 'Time Bomb'), in both tucked and untucked varieties.

Winter in July(ish), Part I

I've been meaning to do this for a while, and kept getting distracted, but since it's very nearly September... So, my santee for the GoS 'Christmas in July' fest was Aquilegia, and since she very generously decided to share her gift, I thought I'd pop it up here as well. I'm sure many people who want these will already have them, but just in case.

Anyway, it's early morning and I've not had a lot of sleep (or enough tea), so less wiffle and more downloads, yes?

Pook'd and Aelia'd walls, Maxis-match floors and recoloured Maxis build mode sets, all under here... )

Everything Old Is New Again

Just a quick thing today: some floors I made as a bit of light relief from working on my GoS 'Christmas in July' gifts (it's all good, but I think I must have chosen to make the most fiddly recolours in the history of Simming). Anyway, I love Adele's and my-mashup's vintage floor tiles, but I'm greedy and I wanted more, so I hunted down some suitable textures and made some of my own as well.

I'm particularly chuffed with the concrete tiles (especially the last-but-one on the bottom row); you really must download them to see how ace they look in-game. ;)

EDIT: thanks to [personal profile] sheelal, I can confirm that these are Mac-friendly. Yay!

Doctor! Doctor! Take 2

As requested by autumnparanoia, the Dalek 'To Victory!' poster, but this time on aikea-guinea's half-height wall-writing mesh (included in download):

The eagle-eyed among you will spot that the aspect ratio is a little different to the version on the Maxis mesh, but this one is actually closer to the original. ;)

Also, there is a bonus extra recolour: the vanilla and grungy recolours are the same as before, but there is now a new lightly worn version too.

Plus, given the inveterate fiddler that I am, I decided to go back and revamp the Maxis version a little. So, I've now made a lightly worn recolour for that as well. And since in retrospect I thought that the grungy recolour looked a little odd with such ultra-shiny drawing pins, I've given it some nice rusty ones instead.

Go grab the revised Maxis version here.

One-Trick Pony

This is sort of in fulfillment of a request made by Goat, over at GoS. OK, only Pooklet's naturals were originally requested, but, being me, I couldn't leave it at that, and had to do the unnaturals too - my excuse was that it was a great opportunity to give my brand new full-Pookleting capability a good test run.

I was originally going to upload the results at GoS too, but that would have meant making four separate posts for one hair, and I thought people might just start getting annoyed with my omnipresence. Plus, since it's the first hair recolour I've ever released, I'm afraid I bottled out in the end...so it ended up here instead. :)

So, here you have Tenshii~Akari's 'Half-Pony Dreads', for both guys and gals, in all 25 of Pooklet's colours, using Tenshii~Akari's texture (lightly edited by me).

Consolation

As requested by psychosim at GoS, my update of Aviolina's "Silent Hill" stairs made 'open-underneath'. And because I can't resist fiddling in SimPE, they are now also recolourable, thanks to a bit of help from HugeLunatic at MTS. So, in an attempt to make my efforts worthwhile I've also chucked in a handful of recolours, plus some matching fences.

This way for the mesh and recolours... )

Straight Up

The third and final(ish) grand opening set: HugeLunatic's recolourable version of the Maxis Chic stairs, plus matching fences, in Aelia's colours. Yes, I may not be able to 'Pook' (my poor aged version of Photoshop can't cope with it), but I can 'Aelia', so I'm making the most of it!

I haven't included a separate screenshot of the fences because, well, they look just the same as the stair-rails!

DOWNLOAD STAIRS AND FENCES

DOWNLOAD STAIRS

DOWNLOAD FENCES

HugeLunatic's meshes for both the standard and open-underneath versions of the stairs are included.

In case you're not familiar with them, they work in exactly the same way as Numenor's recolourable deck stairs: the standard stairs will override (but not permanently overwrite) the Maxis Chic stairs (simply remove them from your downloads folder if you want the Maxis version back again), and each step must be recoloured separately with the design tool once the stairs have been placed. The open-underneath stairs are repositoried to the standard stairs, so they take the textures from them, and come with a script file (also included) for installation via the Scriptorium.

Oh, and when I say this is the finalish opening set, I mean that I am intending to attack the AL wooden spiral stairs and matching fences with the same colours, plus grunge up some wrought iron spiral stairs too, when RL allows...

HugeLunatic for the stair meshes and [personal profile] aelia  for the colours; thank you, both!

Sugar Coated Iceberg

The second set of opening goodies: as requested by pinketamine at GoS, DOT's add-on sofa and chair slaved to the Maxis Satinistics loveseat for textures.

Since this is way overdue, by way of consolation I have also rustled up 18 recolours of DOT's texture using Aelia's Photoshop actions. These are recolours of the Maxis loveseat, but by the magic that is the repository technique, will also apply to the modifed sofa and chair too, as will any other recolours of the Maxis loveseat that you happen to already have kicking around in your game.

Speaking of which, can I also recommend Ja's fabulous recolours, which I believe were the inspiration for the original request (hence the name of my set is also a small homage to the name of Ja's set, as well as being a tongue-in-cheek song title reference, as usual).

There is one teeny issue with the sofa to tell you about: textures with a non-symmetrical pattern (such as one or two of Ja's) might not work terribly well on the sofa, due to the way it is mapped, and I'm afraid I couldn't do anything about this. Plain and symmetrical textures however, look just fine and dandy. And all textures work perfectly with the chair.

Also, these have different file names and GUIDs to DOT's original versions, and so won't overwrite them - you can have both in your game at once if you want, but you will need to find and delete DOT's files from your downloads folder if you don't.

CREDITS:

Full credit to DOT for the original mesh and texture, and to [personal profile] aelia for the colours; I just did what I like best, and mashed them together in Photoshop and SimPE. :)

And thanks to pinketamine, for the splendid idea.

The Day We Caught the Train

I'm not terribly sure how popular this particular offering will be, it might appeal only to a bit of a 'niche' market, but let's see how it goes...

More in the same vein as the companion post earlier today, but this time 45 vintage British and Irish railway posters! Maybe because these represent my 'home turf', or because I've always had a soft spot for the age of steam, I think these particular posters have a quirky, nostalgic charm.

As before, these should work with HugeLunatic's base-game version of the Maxis mesh and karaskaras's add-on set.

Just to forewarn you, there will be yet moar recolours of the mesh at some point, but with a rather different feel to them - wait and see... ;)

Travelling Without Moving

At last, some new stuff! And I'm afraid my obsession with the Maxis Bon Voyage travel poster mesh, and with genuine vintage travel posters, continues. In this set are 40 recolours of the original Maxis mesh, plus three of lmhwjs's horizontal add-on mesh.

As a bonus, I have also made 19 separate recolours of the frame, one plain white and the rest using Aelia's 'retro' Photoshop actions. Thanks to Aelia for so generously sharing them; they worked a treat and I think they really suit this mesh.

Once again, if you don't happen to have Bon Voyage, these will also work with HugeLunatic's base-game version of the Maxis mesh. The recolours of the frames and the vertical posters will also apply to karaskaras's add-on set.

Live Bed Show

Where to start? Well, this is in part-fulfillment of a request over at GoS to transfer CrabOfDoom's recolours of BeOSBoxBoy's asylum 'beds' to a double bed.

Recolouring the bed frames (two different ones even!) was no trouble at all, but sadly I didn't have equal success in recreating the bare mattress of the original asylum 'bed' - I haven't given up entirely, just put the project on hold while Christmas does its thing and totally takes over my life for the next month! So, in the interim, here are the bed frame recolours only.

Included are re-textures of Holy Simoly's 'La Boheme' iron bed and Mira's 'Teyon' beds (single and double) in all of CrabOfDoom's luscious colours, plus grey; the Holy Simoly bed also has a bonus rusty recolour, but I'm afraid this didn't transfer well to Mira's bed so I haven't included it.

Download the two sets separately, or as one big mammoth set (scroll down).

A big thank you to [personal profile] crabofdoom, for so kindly allowing me to reuse his textures - I just tweaked and edited them slightly to better suit these particular meshes.

And also thank you to psychosim, for providing me with a tip that enabled me to maximize the quality of the textures.

Souvenir

My contribution to the GoS November project of 'Thrift': 61 (yes, 61!) vintage recolours of the Maxis Bon Voyage Collectible Travel Poster/lmhwjs's horizontal add-on, plus one antique wood frame recolour.

Those without Bon Voyage don't need to feel left out, as HugeLunatic has made a base-game version of the mesh, which should pick up these recolours. The recolours of the frame and the vertical posters will also apply to karaskaras's add-on set.
